Shield Nickel

The “First Hole Curse” got me today. I dug holes for 5 hours today, and the only good target was in the first hole.

I hunted with Tnetters: Mangum, Smittyman and P@tch. They all found silver coins, and I didn’t find any. The worst part was seeing their cruel smirks at my unfortunate predicament.

I dug a bunch of coins, probably 15 wheaties, I’m too lazy to count them.



The first hole I dug, had a shield nickel in it. It’s only my second one in 4 years. It’s in bad shape, but it’s all I got.

The "first hole curse" is real. I have experienced it "first" hand.

We fisherman will always put a fish back in the water if it was caught in the first cast of the day.
Don't think I would of done that with a shield nickel thou.

I felt guilty for having pulled 26 silver coins from the site, in less than three weeks, including 2 silver half dollars. The other boys all got silver coins, and other good stuff too though. We all look out for each other. It just works out better that way.

Thanks buddy. I got out of the truck, walked 10 feet, dug a hole, and out popped a 1870s coin from a 1940s spot. P@tch was right there, you should have seen his face, priceless. But that was all she wrote. The curse struck!

I have done well lately, so it was good to see everyone else do well today.
