Yesterday, The Tenn. Trio members discussed the fact that the ground would be frozen for the next 7 days. After lunch, the temp. was 36 deg. so I decided to go to the CW camp overlaid by WW2 Maneuver relics in my last post. I had already started a video about relics of the greatest generation and finds from recent hunts. When I arrived, I parked on the end of the farm where WW2 relics outnumbered CW relics 20:1. My first signal was a big surprise when a U.S. Box plate popped out. A bigger surprise was a square nail in one loop on the back used as a field repair when the rawhide apparently broke. Tenn. Digger said to check if the loops were brass and they are. A friend from Miss. told me that plates with brass loops are associated with Ohio troops (they were there). Ironically, I dug a U.S. belt plate exactly 3 years ago-12-30-2014. Happy New Year & HH, Q.

Congrats on the sweet find, the nail really makes it for me. Somebody fixed that over 150 years ago. Very cool.

Best of luck to you sir in 2018.

Congrats on the Box Plate Quindy. Pretty cool with the square nail stuck through one of the loops.

Nice job. BTW frozen ground is nothing. Leave the shovel at home and take a pick. We did. It was 4 degrees here Monday night, high of 20 today. No problem, we came, we dug, we got relics.

Joey, I was literally 50 ft. from the trucks. It realy did not reads like a plate ranging from 70-77 and bouncing on the F75. I guess the nail was responsible for that. Thanks Joey and hope you have another great digging year in 2018.

That would be a tough group to hang with, I tell you what. Smokey, I do admire your style though, a little crazy perhaps? but I do admire it.
