Hi guys.
Because of the great results with Deus on both old sites that I have been searching with Garret, yesterday I decided to research one of my first sites. I have searched twice with at pro there, 5x8 coil bringing home one silver Drachm and one silver Denarius.

Getting there

I spent two hours finding almost nothing then deus was screaming in my ears. I thought about a can and ignored it. I took two steps forward but I turned back.
This beautiful Follis came out. This was the one that showed me which way to go.

After the first three other follis cane out. It was already time for lunch and I stopped to eat something. Just two meters from were I was laying I had a little surprise. First i thought it was the beer. :tongue3:

Probably a late Roman or Byzantine.

This site was great because of the diversity of the coins. Roman, Byzantine, Greek and maybe even Ottoman's on the same soil. Bronze, silver and gold all together.

Justinian I, 527-65 AD, bronze follis, SB-207, bust facing / M, CON year XXIIII,
Justinian I, a follis of the type listed in the Sear Byzantine catalogue as number 168. "ANNO XIIII" is the date, the 14th year of the emperor's reign (AD 540-541). The obverse inscription is actually supposed to say "DN IVSTINIANVS PF AVG", though by the time this emperor came to power hardly anyone in the Empire could speak Latin anymore, including the people who made the coins, so the legends tend to get a bit mixed up

Probably:
Roman emperor Antonius Pius (138-161 A.D.), depicted on ancient Roman coin (bronze, denom/type: As) (As. Obverse: ANTONIUS AVG PIUS PP. Reverse: TR POT COS II SC PAX (exergue). PAX stg left., holding branch and cornucopiae.)

It was a very hard day but for sure was worth it. This time I had more quality than quantity.
Thanks for watching. :headbang:

Vince,

Try adding another photo with the ring in the middle & all the better cleaned up finds around it. It might make a better banner picture.

Out freaking standing !! A dream hunt for me. Congrats
The at pro missed all this or where you hitting new areas ?

Thanks mate. I've searched the area twice with the AtPro. The first time I found a silver Denarius and a few nice coins. The second time just a few coins and i didn't turn back there. I used the 5x8 coil and it was summer time.
I turned back to check two others sites that i was sure i had cleaned them very well with the AtPro but with the deus i found a lot of other coins. So i decided to recheck this site too. First i was exploring and i found almost nothing but when i got on the same area where i had found the coins i was amazed. The coins were deep enough but the Byzantine Follis are big bronze coins and i dont know how AtPro had missed them! I searched on 4khz and i think it was the best for the Follis coins but i didnt have problems with silver and other small coins.

Erm... yes, hahah I would be lucky to find an ancient gold ring in 10 lifetimes :occasion18:
Not to be pessimistic, but it might very well be a once-in-a-lifetime find that gold ring, but who knows with your fantastic site?
