This was my third outing in 8 days. I haven't even had time to list the clad and the three rings, two of which were keepers. I kinda got distracted by this. It was 59 degrees out and very, very foggy, was raining really hard earlier, and will rain later tonight. I asked my boss for a day off. I dug that nondescript iron probably Confederate buckle a few weeks ago, and I guess it was two years ago I got one of the rectangular CSA's. I have dug a lot of neat stuff in the last few years, but this well, this was over the top. I did dig a pot pipe earlier, if that counts. And I will NOT admit to digging with a full sized mattock.

Thank you all. I'm not going to clean it, I might take off some of the patina. I reallydoubt that, but I really like it the way it is. This time I sort of almost threw up. The first time I found a gold coin at the beach (almost exactly 6 years ago this weekend), I actually sat down on the beach and cried. I guess things are getting better. There's more on the site, but it's going to be tough going. But miss the item by an inch and miss it by a mile. Have new permissions for 2018 also. I will dig out the books after dinner and get the ID on the one it is. I think it's one of the Virginia sabre belt types.

Truth123...FYI it is sitting right in front of me and I'm staring at it too. Tried looking it up in the book, I think I"m correct on the ID, but need to measure it.
