I was able to get out to a Phoenix park to do a little MDing and wasn't disappointed. I recovered 3 Az tax tokens, 1928s SLQ, 3 Wheats 1927, 1936, and 1937. The wheats were a spill from the same hole about 7 inches deep. Also a nice pile of clad, an Australian 50 cent coin, a Mexican 20 centavos, and a bullet that I have a question about. Could this be an older one, aka Civil War, or is it just a modern one? The Standing Liberty quarter is not in the best shape. The soil around here is merciless on silver. Thanks for looking and happy hunting. I don't have a micrometer here, but tried to measure it and it appears to be about 9/16 of an inch in diameter. I also cleaned it up a little better. IMG_0001.JPG

Quite an international dig with the Mexican and Australian coins. This must have been a popular Tourist Trap where you were at. Definitely a DREAM PARK.

Thanks for sharing!

Now that was a great hunt indeed.Love your SLQ, And that neat 50 cent coin. Now here is a question for t-netters. Is Arizona the only state to have issued those little tax tokens? That is the only state of which I have found them.

I think there were some other states that issued tax token. Oklahoma and Washington are two that I can remember.

Those pennies started out as total toasted. It took some lemon juice and a brass brush to find out what they were under all the crud. Soak them in lemon juice and then every so often give them a good brush job. I wouldn't do the lemon juice and brass brush with anything really good, but it helps with crappy pennies.

Utah also has tax tokens. I found a lot of them when I was out there.

The bullet looks newer. If you cleaned the dirt off of the grooves we would be able to tell better. Also would like to know the size. Looking at it I am guessing .32 cal but that is an absolute guess. Nice going on the SLQ, they are harder to come by than most.

I haven't measured it, but it is at least 45 cal or larger. I will measure it tomorrow, but I don't have a good micrometer here so it will be approximate.

Nice hunt Budd, SD makes a good point about your bullet.
After you clean the dirt out of the groves see if they have vertical lines in them. If so it's after the CW.
Let's us know

I have found tax tokens from, Illinois, Oklahoma, Alabama, Missouri, and Colorado. I always like to see them posted, and of course the SLQ is also a nice find. Congrats.
