I intended to put on my waders and swish through a lake just outside of a big town that?s about 20 minutes away.? I anticipated the hunt while driving, passed a few small ponds that still had the winter?s ice over it and even considered this hunt a non starter.? I arrived at the lake and did a recon first, a short walk from the parking lot, as I got close to the lake I couldn?t see the water, they had drained the lake a good meter, WooHoo!? Got to the edge of the lake and I could see most of the swim area bottom exposed, it was a great sight to see!? I was real happy about this and nearly ran back to the car to get the gear ready.? I originally planned on using the Fisher CZ7A but grabbed the XLT for this rare opportunity, the XLT is a great machine for this type of hunt and I was very impressed with its performance today.? The first hour was nice, two gold rings and sunny, then the rain came, started out as a light drizzle then a light down pour and finally back to a drizzle the rest of the after noon.? I finished detecting most of the exposed swim area in about 3 hours, less than I thought, so I crossed back over the areas I hunted where I found the most jewelry and found two more rings.? This is a big park and I found several other areas to hunt, 3 badminton courses of sand, two volley ball courts of sand, and a kiddie playground with sand, they only gave up 1.20 Euros and look fairly new.? Here?s the pictures:
The swim area I hunted, much bigger than it looks, a lot of finds found in front of the stairs.? ?

All the finds from today but resizing the pictures cut off a bit, 3 silver necklaces and a chain, a watch, a matchbox car, 4 9mm bullets, several coins of which I threw away about 25 coins as they were nasty and rusty.

3 earings, the small one with a stone is 10K gold.

It was a charmed day for sure and I found 11 charms, a few are silver, here are 10 of the charms.

I found 13 rings today, the top row of 6 rings are junk, the middle 3 are 10K (333) and I don?t think I destroyed that thick mans wedding band, it was surprisingly deep in the clay about 6? down and came out in pieces.? The bottom 4 are 925 silver rings.?

The gold finds, 5 pieces of gold, they are all 10K (333).? Wifey claimed the upper left Sweetheart ring, just have to clean it up!? It fits her so I?m safe from resizing.? 7 year old daughter claimed the silver lady bug ring, it fits her and I have to clean it as well.? I had a great day hunting and I?m beat!? I prefer relic hunting but these types of hunts where finds are plenty are also nice!? HH and thanks for looking, Mike

Man, that's what I call an ice chest hunt-fill the ice chest w/cokes and sandwiches and don't stop hunting till the ice chest is empty. WTG! Definitely a go-back site. HH

Wow. Really great finds and what luck to have the lake down. It sounds like you were prepared for all of it to. I love the part about throwing away the rusty coins, LOL, with that find I can see why.

This is undoubtedly the best one day find I have ever seen posted. I keep praying for a drought as there is an abandoned amusement park swimming hole near my house that they have raised the water level and covered the old beach. They won't let you wade the lake but you can hunt the shore. Unfortunately the shore has been hunted so much you can hardly find a pull tab! Firstr time the water level is down look out! Congratulations!
