I went out with Tnetters KurtStuben & Smittyman today. It was chilly but sunny at the Honey Hole

Here is the obligatory pic of Smittyman. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Here what I emptied out of my pouch.

I have been digging almost all of the targets lately. I really want to dig more gold rings. I dug a ton of pulltabs and junk. I won’t tell you Kurt got a gold ring today. All I got was Jefferson nickels.

I did manage to get a war nickel and a dozen wheaties. YTD silver coins: 7

I found an oil lamp. Here is the adjustment knob, with an 1897 patent date on it.

When I first cleaned this, I swear I saw wheat on it. I don’t see it anymore. It weighs 2.9 grams, same as a wheatie. I suspect some kid put Mr. Lincoln on the railroad tracks. I put that coin in there for scale.

I really like lead toy soldiers, so it hurts when I always seem to find them in pieces. This site has given up 8 partial lead toy figures.

Here is a leg and foot that came from the same hole.

4C81395A-2734-45BE-B4EC-74486A33B190.jpeg

I found 2 bases, a Barclay #678 and a Manoil #32.

I did manage to find this relatively intact knight, with JAPAN across his back. Coin, again for scale. It’s a small figure.

Here is pic of all of the lead I found today. I cleaned the tag. I believe it is an old phone pole tag. We have found several of them on this site.

Thanks for looking, and best of luck on your hunts.

hey Tom, the gold seems to run in cycles. I found 5 golds in like a month or so and haven't seen any since (seems like years ago now). I dig every pull tab and pull ring too and have exceeded the quota I am sure for tabs to gold ratio. But, got several Buffs and a lot of nickles. Keep at it my friend, I hope you find one of those honking huge 14k rings to show the others that you still got it! LOL Jerry

I hope Kurt post that find, I love those war Nics. I love that pic of Smittyman, looks like he stole something. We used to have a funny saying, "a waste is a terrible thing to mind"
Keep digging brother, I'm going to hit the woods for a couple hours tomorrow after church.

The site is 8 acres and these lead toys have been found all over it, not localized in one small spot. We usually don’t find these, but do find a lot Tootsie Toy cars. Zero cars, 9 lead figures... completely opposite of every other spot that I’ve hunted... thank God.

Kurt should post today. He was thrilled with the find, I on the other hand, felt like crying. JK.

GL in the woods, I’m headed to meet P@tch for a bit of digging.

So many amputations at that toy soldier field hospital, the horror. Looking forward to seeing some more complete figures coming out of that great site, Tom! Sub 8-)
