On another outing to a local park yesterday I recovered a Nik-O-Lok restroom token. I've never seen one before and never encountered a restroom that used one to get in. The company is from Indianapolis, Indiana and I have no idea how old the token is. Any help would be appreciated. Happy hunting and keep warm out there. IMG_0001.JPG IMG_0002.JPG

I remember seeing pay toilets in the early 1970s. I think it was a nickel or dime but never heard of a token operated one. Pretty cool find.

Never seen one before either. I remember as a child the restroom in GC Murphy's cost a dime to get into the stall back in the 60's and 70's.

Great find. As a side note, we had a hotel in my town in the early 60's that it cost a $.10 to use a stall.:coffee2:

There's a place called Melba's in New Orleans that as far as I know still uses those (not that exact one, but similar set up) It keeps the druggies out of the bathrooms, and there's no key to keep track of or have stolen.... If you're a customer you just ask for a token and they hand you one, no charge there anyway

The stall floors stayed clean because more people crawled under the door than paid to use the can!

Now that is a unique token, I can remember the pay toilets at the Woolworth Dept store and the lunch counter that had the best burgers and shakes!

I know of one gas station and one laundry mart that has a coin lock on the bathroom door. Takes a quarter , but if you ask the attendant , they give you a token.

Reminds me of that old poem in the pay toilet stall. "Here i sit broken hearted, paid my dime and only farted". Not sure why I remember that from back in the day. lol
