Ok I first started getting into detecting last summer, and we were in a drought. I hit this farm/park that has a few hundred acres you cant detect. It dates from around 1900 or maybe earlier. Didn't find much. Now after the snow melted I went back and found some cool items. Walking down a trail in the woods I got a solid 50's signal, dug an early shotun shell head. Checked the hole again and had another signal right next to it. Dug it and out came this button, my first.

After that, went to some old fields out back near an old graveyard. Found this along the edge of the field.

Also found a 1980's penny coinspill in the same field and a pair of angle nose pliers.

Nice finds. I dug a button exactly like yours a few weeks ago. Same old locomotive. I don't know much about it though.

That is a very cool train button! My grandfather was a railroad man and it made me think of him, would love to find one like that for my collection.

Congrats on a nice hunt. Like the button for sure.
I too started last year as well.
Now that I think about it I had dug my first button and buckle on the same hunt.
