and we hit a 1960 house right across from where a civil war fort was, we have found tons of bullets in this area before, well today he gets his first seated half dime, most defanately dropped from a soldier, and i got some more modern silvers, a eaten up indian, and a nice 1875 indian

These old coins that have a hole punched or drilled, did they put on a chain or worn as a necklace...maybe sown into pockets?

While I think that half dime was a Good save I was wondering how your research lead you to the conclusion that it was dropped by a soldier? I could see that being possible but could it have been dropped by a civilian or post war drop?

well the area was first occupied when they built the fort there, and then not again until about 1920, so chances are high enough for me to truly believe that, but we will never know for sure, also the olnly things ive found in this area older than 1900 were all civil war items, bullets, buttons, etc
