    Great save !!
The design at the end of the cross bars indicates the coin is from Mexico.
Its weight will determine its denomination.
The standard weight for an 8 reales is 27.468 grams with proportional less weight for other denominations (4R, 2R 1R 1/2R).

I would say Plate Fleet 1715. Back when I was in FL I found many similar to yours of different denominations. Indialantic to below St. Lucie if that was where you were detecting. Congrats nice detail.

Thanks for the info. This one weighs in at 6.6 grams, so that should make it 2 reales.

If you get a depth reading of four inches and you've dug down two feet and widened your hole several times and still get a signal, GIVE UP!

Minted in Mexico from about 1690 to 1730. Has 3 fleur de leis of Valois supposed on the front of the shield, and looks like a 1715 fleet type coin.

I love Spanish Silver. Great find

I spent about four hours detecting and found a lot of the usual - plenty of clad, pull tabs, and pieces of aluminum cans.

After the first beach I hit went dead, I moved to another. My third target (following a matchbox car and a quarter) was definitely one of my beach bucket-listers - a Spanish silver cob coin!!! I cleaned it up a bit using methods learned from another Tnet user and was very happy with the result.

Now I need some help from you Spanish coin experts - what is the age range of this coin and where was it minted? Thanks for looking and thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
