I have been finding it difficult to *want*
to go out this year. Some of it is the cold
but mostly, I'm just not enjoying as much.

I'm sure that a few warm days may change my
perspective.

Today, I made myself go for a walk. I told
myself it was just to get my "fix". but,
ya know, I really enjoyed myself! I swung for
about 4 hours in a farm field, finding next to
nothing and not caring a bit! The ground was a
bit frozen in places but some was ok.

I really found next to nothing but a couple things
did make me smile.

Here's my booty:

Strange bullet for where I found it. :dontknow:

2018 (47).jpg

A complete Presto lid

This brass piece is very solid but it's
broken off of something.

There is a design and some lettering etched
into this piece. Any ideas on how I might
clean to see them better?

Fishy likes the strange colors of this feather.
Don't know my birds well enough.

Blingie's off to bed again.
Not impressed. LOL

Thanks for peeking!

It’s raining all week here and I’m already going nuts, but I guess I’m not gonna get any β€œpoor thing” points.

the old canning lids are zinc and if you have a woodstove you can toss them in , zinc is what they burn to help keep the creosote down FREE chiminy cleaner....!

Its great you got out and enjoyed yourself. Sometimes we just need to take the kid in us out to play.

A rugger, hmm....maybe it had something to do with the feather being there.
Pheasant or maybe a hawk.

Not sure about what the brass piece broke off of, maybe trim of some kind. Hope you find a way to clean it so the detail appears.

Blingie needs his beauty sleep.
Fishy is off and flying....if you get him another feather.

That is some very interesting info about zinc being a creosote cleaner....i have a jar full of zinc cent cores that the copper is gone from....and a wood stove!
Ta da!
What you learn on here is a gold mind of information.

I've always said, one of the absolute worst Christmas gifts is a metal detector. At least, up north. :tongue3:

Be careful throwing zincolns in a stove. They aren't *just* zinc. Might want to check to see what gasses the other metals might give off. Never know.

And here i thought... finally a useful purpose for the zincs!
The search continues i guess.

As per your advice, i hit the coinstar and scored!
A rosie & a wheat, spare change, some foreign & tokens.
