Went for a beep today by the river - walking the trail, I see a glint of what I assumed was trash - not!

1912 s Barber quarter

IMG_1214.JPG IMG_1213.JPG IMG_1223.JPG

Has fresh rim damage, looks dug - must have had a hole in pouch/pocket.

Kept my eyes open for another Detectorist - but none to be see (Only seen 1 person here in 3 years detecting)

MINE!

It’s not mine, the Barbers I dig look like Nilla Wafers.
Nice find!

How cool is that, that's a once in a life time eye find. hopefully not but wow.Sitting on the ground much better condition than in the ground. Here in Mich silver comes outta the ground just like it was dropped the day before and the clad is dark almost black sometimes. Watch in an hour or 2 another tnetter who went detecting today found that coin and couldn't find it when they got home, is going to see your post and start kicking themselves LOL Great find hope theres lots more for you. Thanks for the great post!!! Tommy

Thanks all - I looked down and saw the eagle and I was like What the heck?

Picked it up, walked to river and rinsed - wow!

Well ain't that a kick in the pants! Can't imagine losing such a beauty after pulling it out of the ground. Good for you for spotting it!

I've walked and beeped that trail more than 100 times I swear (always beep while walking to other areas) - the only other thought is that it was so shallow I nulled on it, and the atv that got the trash skidded it out?

I've found barbers amongst leaf clutter in city woods here in PA. Quite a few of my silver finds require no digging. Extremely lucky if another person dug then dropped it.
