So....I decided to go for a short play
in the mud. No expectations, just getting
my "fix".

But, If I have to go through heart attacks
just to fix, then maybe it's time to resign.

Anyway, I managed to find a good combination.
A bit of high ground that wasn't so muddy and
was fairly easy to dig.

After cleaning up a few pulltabs I flipped back
a plug and saw this:

Now, for brevity's sake, I *KNOW* enough to not
even flinch just cuz the there's something gold
coloured in the hole. I guess this one did take
me by surprise though and I did jump and then
laid back, re-gathering my wits and the realization
that, more than likely, it was not. Recovered my
wits and then sat up and finished the hole.

There's more to this story but I'll post more about it
in the post linked in my sigature, below.

All in all, not too terrible a walk.
By the way, that's a whole wheat toast and
TWO Indian Head cents. One's a 1901.

2018 (69).jpg

A sparkly to hold Fishy's interest.

2018 (70).jpg

And lots of shiny for Blingie.
By the way, that's the very first fountain pen
I ever dug. It was down a good 9 inches too! Looks
pretty good for what it's been through.

Thanks for peeking!

Blingie likes it, that's all that matters. I had a cow digging back in the day in SC, this huge GOLD thing jumps out of the hole. A great early gold plated early button with all the gold on it.

It happens. I even pulled out a gold gilt flat button before that gave me a heart attack. Great finds nonetheless! [emoji2][emoji106]

Looks like you had a good day. South Carolina must be the place to have a heart attack Smokeythecat, I lived in Sumter for 10 years. I dug a round, thick GOLD roundness. When I first saw it down in the hole, I'm pretty sure I had blood vessels pop somewhere in my head. After I got it out of the hole, it was a plastic gold poker chip. Some kids must have buried it in the sand playing pirates. I'm not a doctor but I thing doctors call it suckItis.(suck-I-tis) That feeling you get when you go from WOOOOHOOO to WTF in 10 seconds.

Great stuff! I had that same feeling with a... I think it was a 2 euro coin? It's gold colored and it was small enough that I thought I hit the jackpot. Needless to say, I still don't have a gold coin to my name that I haven't purchased.

Well you got your cardio workout in for the day.

I know that "euro" feeling, my heart rate wildly ramping up while part of my brain was asking "why would a gold coin be in a school yard?".
Its happy, happy....uh...oooo, swan dive into disappointment.

There is something not right about issuing common coins in a gold color, its just not right.
Even a warning sticker won't help.

The fountain pen is quite a find now days, nice!

Fishy is a happy camper with his bling. I'm guessing Blingie will be carting off the offending "gold" coin as his treasure.

Glad your playing in the mud went well.
The temps are rising, a good sign for us.
