Found parts of the HOLY GRAIL...talk about having all emotions at once, excitement of realizing what you have in your hands and heartbreaking, knowing it's in pieces....As Don Troiani mentions in his book Insignia of independence : military buttons, accoutrement plates & gorgets of the American Revolution, last know example was stolen in 1972. Will pound site until mother earth gives up the rest of this beautiful piece!

Man that’s an incredible find!!!! I can’t get over it. I’m voting BANNER because the likelihood that we will EVER see another piece of one of these is next to zero (unless it’s by you of course.) we will see lots of GW buttons, gold coins and other pieces that go up top. This is just too special imo. I don’t care if it’s in pieces

Sift baby sift. I have never sifted before but that would turn me into a pit digger! Congrats on a banner find, I hope you can find more.

Thanks Ahab, like the title, to me it's one of the HOLY GRAIL items for Rev War hunters to find a Rev War plate of any type...but a rare one...will keep all posted when more pieces come in...

7 hours without a comment....so sad. This is one of the rarest pieces we’ve seen. Too bad you didn’t find a merc dime with it. You’d have tons of comments. I know I should just keep my mouth shut but this stuff makes me sad man

Just before I clicked on this post for the 6th time, I decided I was going to vote banner as well. TouchΓ©

Banner find in my book because it’s one wicked rare piece of history. My vote is going in now.

Haha you too! I should have figured as much. Hell yeah Abe, this is so rare that reference books just have drawings.

I feel a little silly, but I’m going to ask anyway because I’m still a novice. What exactly is this?

Patriot, what can I say that hasn't already been said, but What a Find. Pieces or not, you have found a true piece of History. Like the others, here is wishing you the Best of Luck in finding some more of this piece of a Historical Puzzle. Even if you are not able to locate the other pieces (which I hope you can), Nothing can take away from the fact that you have found a piece and now have it in your possession. Congrat's to you on a Stellar find.:notworthy:
