Hi all. I worked away from home for 3 days this week and had some spare time in the afternoons to hunt. The site is 300km from my house so i only hunt these fields twice a month for a couple of hours. i have found some nice relics in these fields where old houses used to be. On this last hunt i broke my own record with finding 8 silver coins and 10 copper coins next to a old house ruin. The coins are not that old but silver non the less. Amongst the finds I also found a nice large eagle button, 2 general service buttons, a printing plate that is worn badly, a 1941 bicycle license. I also found this mangled piece of metal that i nearly chucked away but upon looking closer it turned out to be a very old silver coin. How it got damaged like this i do not know.

Thanks for looking and Happy Hunting to all.

Your lucky your silver continued unlike ours past 1946. Never really understood why if we couldn't afford silver at home why in some of our commonwealth Countries?

Nice finds, Brendan. Congrats. I assume you are in South Africa? Cool. A long way from the U.S.

Very nice, those are beautiful coins! I'd love to find a South African silver. You should post here more often!

The tube shaped item (third from the end) looks to be a valve stem cap from an old Ford model T or similar.

Hello Brendan75. That is an outstanding hunt...never found more that 3 or 4 silvers in a single hunt myself. Also kinda curious to find an American GS button in the RSA...no? Thanks for the post and Good Luck out there. C9

Congrats Brendan on a nice haul of silver and copper! If only those fields were 3 rather than 300 km from home!
