Northern Arkansas, 1900 build home that was also a store once .... I've looked around before, wheat pennies, loads of pieces of copper pipe and .22 shells and rifle brass and zinc mason jar lids .... found a keep today. Very dark soil, not too rocky

My first 1800's dug silver, and its a worn Barber half but dang it I'm super pleased

I always read the forums and wonder about the location etc - and how ya'll find such cool things. I'm a coin guy, so really happy. I had my AT Pro set to 75 and above discriminated, there is a lot of 50-75 tones and I wanted to focus on silver. I have a sniper coil, where in the past at this old house I'd have the big coil. I think I dug 3 intact mason jar lids with the ceramic inside .... I love those for some reason because they break so easy and if I can get them out whole, figure I'm digging the targets right :)

I don't keep track but, I must have dug over 100 Mason Jar lids easily in various conditions. They are usually falling apart and missing their ceramic seal. When I get them intact and with seal unbroken I feel I have a genuine really cool old relic. Even more respectable when you have opened a huge hole and you're excavating at over a foot down! One man's trash is another man's treasure as they say. Congrats on that large 1800's silver too. Great feeling getting big 1800's silver coins and not an easy task. Well done.:headbang:

I'd be double dang pleased with that find! In the half dollar department, I've found a capped bust, seated, walker, and franklin...but never a Barber.
Hopefully some day. Congratulations!

Kurios1 I'm not the only one then !! Its a challenge to get them out whole, I've broken way more than I've not. I'll be going back to this house and yard this weekend.

Thanks everyone, I've found a lot of things, a few silvers, a gold ring, some silver rings, some cool items but this half dollar is one of my bestest finds for me.
