Civil War Carbine Buckle

Found this today along an old road not far from a CW skirmish site. Ive found 18th century finds in the area so initially i believed this was an old belt buckle or sash buckle. After some research i think it may be a Carbine Buckle. I believe it is made of copper but the online examples are cast brass. It may have a US stamp but not sure. Posted these finds elsewhere but wanted to post here for a positive ID. Thanks for looking. The last pictures and link are an example i found online, the cast brass looks like the same material of mine.

Cavalry sling hardware for sure ... NiCE !

That is an excellent example of a Carbine sling buckle and batwing sling tip. It is marked US and the other mark is Sheppard, who was a government inspector. Now go back and dig any iron readings nearby, the sling swivel must be there somewhere.
