Well now... isn't this interesting.

And whilst I have some stage...

The other day someone I bump into occasionally... engaged me in a conversation concerning my "thoughts" on the new EQ...

In this he uttered to me that he heard word a certain video that started the EQ "craze"...

was started by guys that had a hand in development of the EQ and the detectors used have an ability beyond the full scale production models.

Any thoughts ?

Deus is champion with trash and CW sites or places with lots of relics/iron scrap and hot, hot ground.

Equinox should outdo the Deus in the salt water. It is a good machine but will not walk on water.

No one machine is perfect, and yes, they hyped it beyond redemption, but the Equinox series is a good series. Not for everyone, especially at $900 for the 800 model.

Hey... I am even beginning to want one.

But currently I have done ZERO detecting due to time constraints... so buying a new detector now is mute.

I want one to tweak the heck out it... push its limits... learn it inside and out... and then post nothing of the results. :P

Nah,,,

I like Minelabs... and it seems like a good new wave of detector once again cutting an edge in the industry.

I am just curious now as to other detector designers / manufacturers / companies... next "move".

Gonna be a cool next couple years in the MD industry I think.

Its clear to me the XP shock up the competition thats why the previous heavy model machines now copy the Deus style.

No doubt. Why swing 4-5 lbs when you can swing 2-3.

It's pretty clear bigger numbers of sales must come from the mid. range than the higher end, because you know the E-trac just took a bullet, and I'd bet far fewer will step up to the CTX now. The funny part to me is a lot of the hype is probably by people who have never used an Explorer, E-trac, or SE, so had no idea all along how good they are when you know how to use them. The equinox with the quicker recovery is more user friendly to someone new, so of course it seems like a great detector.... because Minelabs always have been. Heck the AT Pro was super hyped for what it is, and all the people who have gone from it to the Equinox are figuring that out now. All that said, it's the sites that count and just getting over the good one! :headbang:

Iron Patch, you are correct, if it ain't there, you ain't going to find it! Actually, most of the metal detecting market is in the low end. I googled detector sales a few days and was quite surprised.

I believed most sales did come from the lower end, and if you read my post again you'll see I was not suggesting otherwise. :)
