Just when I thought I was safe from stumbling for another year

Along comes this very nice cat person to invite me on something I haven't truly done in many, many years! An *actual* Civil War hunt!

Oh sure, I've been stumbling thru some cornfields, kind of "relic" hunting. But not an actual hunt in a place proven to be civil war oriented.

We met up on the hottest day of this year....so far. My host and a couple of the friends of the host made me just as welcome as I have ever been!

The place was *AWESOME*. I had a keeper on my very first dig!
and it just got better! I had so much fun! Trouble was, I wore out before the hunt finished!

I would LOVE to walk that place some more!

    Ok...nuff preliminary.

    Here's what I found:

My personal "star" of the day!

I think Fishy shows more class in his choices

Note: After our hunt finished I was beat!
But, after about an hour and a couple of "Big Macs",
I felt a lil stronger. So, on the way home, I stopped by
one of my clad-farms for an hour.

All of the coins were from there!

All in all, a WONDERFUL day! Good finds!
Good friendly colleagues in hunting! If this
is my finish to field hunting for the summer
    I couldn't have planned a better finish!

My humble thanks to a most gracious host, smokeythecat.
I hope to return the favor! SOON!

It was a lot of fun. I only got a few items, but....film at 11. Two forces were at play there 1) thinking out of the box, in other words, dig where only idiots would dig and 2) if you miss it by an inch, it might as well be a mile. Just got done with my nap. Now have to figure where everything is and where I put the camera. Scambles the Wonder Chicken had 3 pounds of grapes after I got home, but she had to share them with her two friends. I think she is going to explode.

Oh? I have found many live rounds over the years but I still don't know very much about ammo. Guess it's just something where my interest is lacking.

How is this one "different"? Just by it being a live round and found there? Or something to do with the markings?

Congrats on the hunt! I would have been thrilled just to have been there with that Cat Lady and her friends but to also find some very cool and awesome finds like those is plum crazy sweet! The best memories are made with friends and loved ones, looks like you made a few of those.
