Well it may be but I’m not 100% sure its a knee buckle but thats what i thought untill i cleaned it up. I’m sure someone will id it quick. I stopped in fast where i found the sterling spoon yesterday and found a horseshoe and this buckle. It looks the same time period of the spoon. It was very close to being complete by the looks of it also.

First off I think it is complete. And is probably the best (oldest, most complete, coolest) buckle (what-ever type it is called) I ever saw posted from this corner of the woods. You see them posted from VA and some other states, but pretty rare elsewhere.

Nice find. I would date that one circa 1700 before knee buckles came into fashion around 1720. The single fork tongue combined with the anchor chape on yours should date no later.
