Hey guys,

Been keeping busy in the air for the last few weeks so haven't been able to find time to post my relic recaps. April was a good month despite only getting out a handful of times. Had the opportunity to link up with Matt and DownNDirty for both inland and coastal hunts as well as a few solo outings. CTX remains the weapons of choice on the water, but the XP Deus is still the go to machine on iron. First up is the signature find without question, this 1819-1826 Lewis and Tomes navy officer button was completely encrusted when it came out of the salt flat. These guys must have had a special process for gilding as few copper buttons would have survived so well in such harsh conditions.

Both sites I hit had pretty extensive CW activity, but only union buttons showed up this time.

Descent spread of 3 ringer and enfield drops, the darker lead is from the water vs inland

Onto the colonial site- this former plantation is long gone, but a bit of research turned up a possible location for the slave quarters. Surface scatter help to narrow the area to a large iron patch. This place must have been a laundry as a huge variety of buttons turned up late 1700s to around 1830. First up were 3 old irons...lots of slow electrolysis and a wax seal

Pewter Rev War era buttons...construction is British but Regiment would be pure speculation. The small one is a gator button, typically find these are 1812 era sites.

Looking for help with this one, looks like cast copper alloy - prehaps 2 straps passed through :dontknow: detail work screams 18th century.

Some descent surface finds, this pipe bowl was a welcome surprise after flipping a plug and eyeballing it at the bottom of the mud. TD - Thomas Dormer 1748-1770

That about covers it, looking forward to warmer weather and getting back out on the coast. As always thanks for looking and good luck out there.

That navy button really shined up-when you dug it we thought it was not in the best of shape but the encrustation was hiding the gilt. The large cent was a nice find along with all the other buttons. Looking forward to slogging in the pluff mud this summer.
