Seems like it’s been forever since a copper has shown up for me. Managed two today! One is an 1845 large cent and the other I’m not sure. Could it be Russian? Any idea of date range for it? For a second I was thinking Mass cent but then more details came.
Any ideas on the button with the 1634 date on it? Can’t read it all. It has W_ _ GS of 1634 and in the banner looks like epluribus unum. Any idea what it was used for? The back is stamped Extra Rich and I think RJ co.

Also got a button with a similar design design as the reverse of the capped bust coinage. Would that mean it dates to that same time period?

Nice to find coppers again!

Nice digs! Very interesting button. Looks like you have a Russian Kopek. I dug one dated 1812. It's a very heavy coin.

It's actually "Whigs of 76 & 34." The button with the cap was made by the Whigs for the Congressional campaign of 1834. At the time this was a newly formed political party and their name came from the the early "American Whigs" (as in 1776) who resisted British rule. Some members of the party you might have heard of are Henry Clay and Daniel Webster. That's a super cool button; congrats on a find with some great history!

I believe that the Russian copper is a 1 or 2 kopeck from the 1720's to 1830's. May I ask the weight and diameter of the coin?
