Hand carved gun?

I dug what I think is a hand carved gun. It's lead and appears to have the initials "JO" I've found several dropped 3 ringers and an Enfield bullet at this site along with civil war period buttons and lots of lead. Its obviously been damaged, the ground i found it in looked burnt.

I had it soaking in vinegar with some other stuff because I had no idea what it was so maybe that affected the patina.
