    I think your eagle on cannon button may be war of 1812. No expert by any means, but it looks great. Hope I find one sometime in the future. My best military buttons are a couple of civil war and they are in pretty bad shape.

    Nice finds. Your Artillery button is from the Artillery Corps 1814-1821. It looks like AY 55B in albert's button book. Does it have a backmark? Maybe "Crumpton Phil"?

    That was a fun hunt even though I got blistered! The patina and strike on the buttons is sweet and you just dont see this quality every day. Lets get back to it and save some mo buttons!

    I found a similar button at a fur trade camp that dated 1802-1806 if I remember correctly. The one you found is in much better shape.
