Feeling pretty low lately, so I decided
that a walk around the mansion was
in order. Now, I knew that any coin is
a complete rarity there. Finds, are not
why I go there.

But today, this favorite haunt of mine
felt sorry for this poor old walker.

Not much. That is a corroded
wheatie up top.(or to the left if
you don't expand the pic)

I would have been perfectly fine here
finding just that! :dontknow:

It worked though. I came away
feeling recharged. That was why
I came.

Now, I'm looking forward to my
next walk. :)

Thanks for peeking!

What draws you back? Just curious

It's a little hard to explain. This particular place has
had an owner who strenuously works at keeping it
as it was somewhere near 1800. Just walking the grounds there is like being transported back to a more romantic time.

When I pause for breaks and look up and around me I see the exact same things that was seen way back then! Same house, same buildings, grounds, fields, even a few of the same trees!

I just feel like I've come home there. I've always said I was a throwback to a time that predates my parents! From my very first walk here....I just knew it was special.

For me.....its just not all about the finds.

That help?

You had me at "somewhere near 1800"...Whadi, great post - I completely understand. It's like the little hole-in-the-wall cafe downtown that I haunt a very morning I can. They have pictures up all around the inside, of that place when it was a butcher shop, a tack shop, hardware store, bakery, and hardware store (again). They have the original brick exposed inside and the decor would take you back to the 1800's, so yes I do understand. I actually got out today and i was actually surprised, with a 1891 V nickel and a Boy Scouts slide. This was from my very, very pounded fairgrounds parking lot but was my first time there with my Max. Thx for sharing, always a pleasure...Ddf

A person needs a special place that gives them that peace that is hard to describe. I had a place like that, at my Grandfather's old house/place. One of my uncles inherited it and let it go very badly and then he died. His wife, my aunt moved away and let it all grow up and the house finally has become a victim to the termites. that was the place where no matter where I was at, overseas or stateside, I knew that I had that place to come back to and be home again. A walk around the numerous gardens (food types) or fruit trees that brought me back to the super old log buildings and barn always ended up with a flood of memories. it is all totally gone now, so cherish your mansion as long as you can and be at peace as you walk. Your "welcome home" surprises! Nice!

Yes for sure, some of our strolls are more about the "where" than the finding of "what".
Peace of mind is a priceless present.
My little corner is a sports field that was long ago dedicated as a place kids could always come to play. I have found a time trail of varied items there, it's always an adventure.
Thanks for reminding us of the "why" we do what we do.

I get it. I know the exact feeling when you draw a deep breath and your whole body relaxes. Some call it deja vu. Me I call it home.
