Was out with the Equinox 600 this morning for the 4th. time at my local beach on the north side of lake erie. I put it in beach mode 2 with factory presets. Was swinging for 10 min. and got a solid 7 where the water meets the shore. Second scoop got something that I thought View attachment 1591741 View attachment 1591742 View attachment 1591744 View attachment 1591745 looked like a ring but not sure. Took it to dry land to check and wow the biggest ring I've ever got, 6.7 grams stamped (583). looked it up and here is what it says. The overwhelming majority of soviet jewelry was of rose or red 14 karat gold (583 millesimal fineness). I couldn't believe it only rang up 7 but Im glad I dug it. For the rest of the 5 hours of scooping I got .39 cents in clad and a record number of bottle caps and pull tabs but you have to dig it all. I know now. My back is so sore, I think I need a scoop with a longer handle. The ring looks like it was in the water for a long time. I took it to a local pawn shop here in my town and they offered me $100.00 for it, said it was vintage and had IMG_0952.JPG IMG_0954.JPG IMG_0955.JPG IMG_0959.JPG a synthetic stone and they only pay 22 dollars a gram so I think Ill keep it. I know its ugly but its gold.

Nice find. A pawn shop would be the last place I would take it. They have to make money too but they usually offer way less than something is worth. Congrats on the great find.

Congratulations, Hawks, on the beautiful gold ring. I'm taking my detector out to hunt a new permission site in a few minutes, now that it's cooling down a bit outside. I haven't found any gold in about 2 months so I'm sure ready for my next piece.

I think its an interesting ring. The setting is very different and the scuffed up stone only adds to its character. Congratulations!

Wow, you give us Nox 600 owners hope ! By the way, I use a knee high sand scoup alot and it does my back good. I guess the taller you are would determine how much you have to bend over to scoup lol... If you have access to a 3d printer... I designed a wall mount for a knee high sand scoup. You can find the Thingiverse link for it in my signature. Congrats on the finds and happy beach hunting !

That gold ring is Beautiful!! Very different tells me it was not made local..and being marked 583............almost custom looking.

https://dendritics.com/metal-calc/

6.7 grams, 162.24 knock of .3 grams for the stone and your looking at 10.oo dollars less.

And Gold is down from a few weeks ago. I would keep it for sure.

That's a really cool ring! And pawn people know their diamonds, and electric tools, but not colored stones. I believe that's an Iolite. Sometimes called Water Sapphire. It's about as hard as quartz (7-7.5 ) on the Moh's scale, but cleaves easily, so getting whacked around on the beach knocked of the corners of the facets. It's got the characteristic color for an Iolite, and I don't know of any synthetics produced in that hue. It's a pleochroic stone, with a mix of colors. Light blue, violet blue, and sometimes a yellowish gray.
