Been quite a while since I last posted. Wife and I spent about 3 hours today detecting on a permission in North Carolina. Dug up the usual random iron pieces, harmonica reed etc. there was so much iron in this spot I decided to work the edges before we left and got a signal on the at pro that was barely a whisper......no vdi, bot sounded good. Flipped the plug. Vdi shot up to 78 or so and much sweeter sound. Anyway this what was in the hole.

That is a fantastic .. and a pretty darn rare find. Banner Worthy? Congratulations!

NOTE: The best I can tell from your photo, it is an 1860-1870 backmark. A better photo may confirm.

These are about the best pics I can get with an "in the field cleanup". Wont be home for another week. Doesnt appear to have an underscored O.
Thanks everyone for your comments and help

From what I can tell, it looks like a larger lettered impressed mark with the inner ring of dots. If so it would date from 1880-1920.

Backmark looks post war as others have mentioned, incredibly tough one to dig. Congrats on a fantastic button

I agree. Glass and and other things found seem to be consistant with late 1800's.

Thanks for looking
