I know my treasures are it much. But againn i am new to detecting. So please help me out. I dound this today while i was detecting. It is about 2 inches by 2 inches. Made of brass. Says Sawyer Judson on it. Bad thing is there is a bunch of them. It was found in Xenia Ohio.

I really dont think its a suspender clip. It has a persons name on it for the first thing. Also it looks like it use to be some sort of pin/name tag. Look at the pics again.

Sawyer Judson lived in Ohio and fought in the Civil War. So i am wondering if it was his or if it is just a coincidence.

Oh, it is a suspender clip.

It was named after the guy, like Levi Strauss, all those jeans didn't actually belong to Levi. It's a brand name.

It has a couple of pieces missing, the hook and cross bar are gone. Here is a picture of a bunch of them, Google images can be used to dispel your lingering doubts, sir.

Being from Ohio, everyone back in the days was named the same. There was a lot of intermarriage and such. Normally when you find a name it is a makers mark. You have found a piece of history and that i great. If you look far enough back in your faily tree you will see a lot of the same names and such.
