What period? CW?

I’m pretty sure these were out of fashion by the start of the Civil War.
The area this was found was within proximity of an encampment used by the British army during the French and Indian war(aka 7 years war).
Of course I can not be 100% sure it was from that exact time in history, but it is certainly nice to dream.

I’m pretty sure these were out of fashion by the start of the Civil War.

These were basically out of fashion by the very early 1800s. I have a few from the 1600s and several from the 1700s. The styles changed over the years and there’s some great references on them. I have a great book about the different styles and time periods. Congrats on a great relic.

As much as I can't wait to find an old coin or a gold ring, (this is my first year detecting), These kind of finds are my favorite.
