It kind of has that shoe buckle fragment look to it. More pics would help.

Ok, after seeing more pics, it does look more modern.

Clean a small area on the underside with a baking soda paste. You'll see silver right away.

I never mentioned silver, these type were a mix like pewter.

Yep, Crusader has it right. It's totally a colonial 1700s shoe buckle piece piece.
