Saturday, fellow T-Netter Mad_Cladder and I detected a late 1850's farmhouse. The owner said that a few months earlier somebody had detected there for 2 days but we were welcome to detect and gave us full access to the 3.5 acre lot. There weren't many coin signals, but I did manage to find my first Carson City coin, an 1876 Seated Dime. It's pretty worn, and I did scuff it up, but I'm not going to beat myself up. It was in some hard pack right beside the gravel driveway. Tough digging. This is my 2nd seated dime this year. The first one was in AMAZING shape but had an old wound. I was glad to have it, but sick about how nice a coin it would have been without the damage.

Full disclosure, this photo is from the GIS website.

This afternoon I made a run to the grocery store and as always, my first stop is the Coin Star machine. There was a 1957 Rosie and 2 memorials that were stuck together in the reject tray. Finally!! My first CS silver! And yes, I'm counting it in my silver coin totals for the year. :laughing7:

Thanks for looking. GL and HH.

Oh man I hear ya on the damage. I scuffed up a lot of coins in gravel infested dirt. But you did find a seated! :icon_thumleft: And don't kick yourself for scuffing it up, it just happens.

That’s an awesome find. That changed my opinion of hunting spots after people have camped out on them like that. These two Washington’s were at the same lot. The big hunk of iron between them might have kept him from digging. (The seated in this pic is bladerunner2019s)
