Finally decided to make a post. Due to the crazy heat and lack of detectable sites don't have much to brag about but I believe at least some the recent finds are still worth to be mentioned.

Firstly, perhaps my favorite find of the last two weeks is this French Marines button (Compagnies Franches de la Marine) 1730-1760 I believe. Crazy early and pretty rare for where I'm hunting. Only my second one since I've started detecting. Couldn't have asked for a better condition.

An other interesting find was British Artillery officers button. Pattern of 1782

Some cool finds from an early trash pit. I couldn't dig deep so only collected the stuff I could. Picked up some very cool pieces of early pottery with the image of wooden ships. I believe it dates to 1820's-1840's ( I have found the exact plate online at an auction)

Some more early items.

And some later period finds.

Thanks for the comments.

Congratulations on some great finds, those buttons are in really good shape.
That French marine button really got my attention as I have been searching for years for French items around a couple French fort areas to no avail now I know what to look for.
Thanks for posting.

Very nice finds Aureus. I love those barrel taps, and that is a mighty fine FCM button.
I have been wanting to see a nice example of the post 1730 design. The ones we dig have the drilled shanks.

Awesome hunt and finds! Congrats! If it were me, I would get back out there to do some digging and sifting for more finds and definitely try to find more pottery shards to complete the Naval scene as much as possible. That piece alone may have historical significance and great value.

Very cool finds-especially the plate sherds! I would go back and try to find more of it. Why can't you dig deeper? That's usually where the oldest stuff is.

Always enjoy seeing your finds.
This the last one I dug, its the pre-1730 cast and drilled type FCM button.
The shank is bent, but the pic shows the shank well.

Thanks man. That's a very cool button with a very distinctive shank. I will know what to look for. :icon_thumleft:
