Went out detecting for a couple of hours and as always nothing good for the first 4 hrs. I’m tired at this point because of the heat so I’m ready to call it quits. I decided to detect a little slope with some loose dirt before I left and was rewarded with a shield nickel within 5 minutes. The nickel is quite worn so I can’t see a year but it’s my oldest coin to date so I’m very happy. After finding the nickel I felt a little recharged so decided to stick around for a bit longer. About fifteen minutes later I get an iffy signal on the 800 that’s bouncing all over the place. Once again I decided this would be my last target so I dig about ten inches down and see the edge of the coin. I grab it right away to see what my reward was for digging another poopoo signal. To my surprise it was a 1897 O Barber quarter :hello2: I really need to start getting in the habit of digging these signals because they seem to be treating me good. Anyways thanks for looking and Happy Hunting.

Those iffy signals almost always end up being the cool stuff like older coins, tokens, and good relics, the good signals seem to mostly produce clad.

Nice coins, especially the O mint marked 1800s Barber. I'd have been thrilled to find that one.

Good luck to you sir!

Very nice. If its going to be "just" another Nickel and Quarter, there's not many better combinations to pick than those.

I was excited to have dug a barber quarter that I didn’t even think about the mint mark. Once I got home I saw the mint mark but I had to look it up because I had no idea where it was from :dontknow:

I was thrilled to have found it and still am. Now I need me a half and the dollar one for a complete set :laughing7: This hobby is too addicting, the more we find the more we want. I guess I need to get back to digging. Good luck and Happy Hunting.
