Hit the woods in the rain for exactly one hour. Here’s what I came up with. My first Barber quarter and my first “gold” cuff link. I found the ornate half and once I identified it as a cuff link piece I started looking for the other half, which happened to be a mid tone about 12” away from where I found the first part. Just a drop of super glue and she’s as good as new! 6FDC44FB-6618-47F3-9368-B7EA06726692.jpeg C6CA497D-D093-4D9E-A4C4-2695797BCF1B.jpeg 6195799A-3860-4509-9594-3D84CE7BCB34.jpeg 1AD34AFF-F5E0-4D1E-B208-3A1E38B528B6.jpeg

I like hitting trails in the woods when it rains for two reasons.... 1) the trees provide good canopy cover from the rain. 2) No one is around to bother you! No house site, just a good piece of very old land.

Lets get out there soon. Dug some sort of bees nest this morning, and they got the better of me!

Congrats on the silver and cuff link, extra special when it comes out of the woods. On my last 3 short hunts in different woods I have run across big yellow jacket nests (8” - 12” hole in the ground, looks like MD’ing hole not filled) All 3 crazy with yellow jackets. Last year got several stings when swinging by a hidden one. Must be the time of year for them to be very active before it gets cold.

At 6am, I couldn't make out what they were, just that there seemed to be a thousand of them and covering my boots. I thought they were crickets at first and stood there like an idiot taking in the sight. then one made it up to my arm and I got a better look. By that time, I already received my first sting on the butt!
