What is this???? Found it in Bayonne, NJ under about 12" underneath huge Sycamore

It gave me a hell of a fight, it was beneath a root and I struggled for like 15-20mins I was not giving up, but no idea it definitely not a large cent

From the photos, it looks to be stamped copper rather than cast brass. Looks a bit thin to be a button to me, but, who knows?

Could it have been someone's seal. It was fitted in a watch fob stamp maybe.

Nice find, regardless. Probably a flipping coin or token of some kind. But your tenacity is admirable. I hand dug a 6 or 8 inch tree a while back until I could push it over to get under it. Was a large cent , worth it to me
