There ain't no hole in the bucket, Dear Liza, dear Liza

Nope...ain't no hole. Well as far as I can see at this point.

I haven't posted in a long time mainly because I hunt lumber camps and other historic sites in northern Michigan and I figure there's little interest in these types of finds.

But I have been digging a good number of Indian cents too. Nothing outstanding like what I'm seeing posted here these days.

But, I'll make this an exception.

I was working one of my better lumber camp sites today. It's now a rundown modern residence but I have permission to hunt the entire property. Back in the 1890's the lumberjacks lived at this location and did some of their blacksmith work here for the great lumber baron David Ward. I've even dug meal tokens here with Ward's name on them.

This is an old bucket and I plan to restore it and it will eventually end up in my office as a magazine holder.

The little dogie was found about 7 inches deep on my way to the hunting site. It looks like an early game piece? It's about the size of a penny.

The round tin in the last picture has something heavy inside. Any ideas on how to open it without killing what might be inside?

Thanks for your time.

Badger

If there's history found, I'm interested!

The dog may be from a Monopoly game, our original set has one that looks like it..these pieces seem to be found around here alot, I've found 2 Monopoly pieces so far, the miniature battleship and thimble.

You can post any or all of your finds from your lumber camp digs. It's interesting to see if the artifacts are the same that the lumbermen used in Michigan as compared to Penna. You would be surprised at how many other detectorists are interest in iron items.

Have someone else open it then "you" won't damage it ;D

Hope it's a Full Eagle gold coin Badger,
that would be cool and I can't think of another that would be more deserving.

Cool post, enjoyed reading. Keep em coming, good luck!

Smiles!

Hey Badger,

Great to see you again man!! Hey I look forward to all of you posts. You always seem to have something very interesting to show when you make posts. For that matter I definately like your posts in the other sections of Tnet. You DEFINATELY had a lot of great advice that helped me out when I began detecting.

Please keep posting your finds , I love the old non coin stuff too.
I would take that Tin to every coin and antique collector I could find
and see if they might know what it is before I opened it. Would love
to know what it is.
Keep us posted :)

Badger, I agree, I'd love to see all the finds from the old lumber camp, please don't deny us.

What about soaking the tin in some Coke to see if it will loosen up the rusty crusty enough where it will open?

Great group of finds!
