Hello All,

Had a killer hunt yesterday with my buddy and we raked in the relics and coins. Unfortunately the weather has been a real pain in the @$$ here, raining almost nonstop (every day storm) which has kept our best fields mud pits since summer. We had a dry window of two days so we hit the fields and it was decent out so we hit 'em hard until--you guessed it!--the RAIN chased us out! Here's the video:

When we got out there, Shang dug a Civil War staff officer cuff button right off! Then I answered with my second ever U.S. bit boss! She's not pretty like my first one was, dug two years and two miles away from where I dug this one, but she looks good to me!

Then I got a faint signal and out came a deep Cavalry cuff button! :headbang:

The next row I rounded to the front and got a signal I was convinced was a piece of shredded aluminum can. It was a bit too strong for a half dime. TOTALLY surprised when an 1858-O Seated Half Dime rolled out!

Then I picked up another surprise signal, a deep 1898 V nickel, followed by yet another surprise signal which was a silver "war" nickel. :)

A deep little blip yielded what I thought was a gilded wax fob seal (I'd dug a gold one last year). It still has a broken red carnelian stone in it, which I carefully cleaned and left :) Turns out, it was solid silver. Beautiful little thing.

Next, I got a solid signal that sounded like deep iron, right in the bottom of the row. Digging down about a foot, I saw some crumbly lead and thought for a hot second I had the remains of an eagle breastplate! Turns out, it was a large, lead-filled item with a lion's head on it! Not sure what this is, but it had iron attachments at one time. Perhaps rosette? What do y'all think?

IMG_8553.jpeg

Last of all, as the coup de grace, I walked up on what looked like a bit of crumpled aluminum. It was a mangled 1770s half real, laying right on top where it'd washed out of the soil!

Here are some photos of the finds, after cleaning:

Dude! Your lions head is totally a rosette. I found a complete one years ago and then I saw the same one on a digging show on cable. That’s three total that I have seen with that design now. Awesome finds!
