Did a couple of hunts with mixed results. The weather was pretty bad over here with strong winds and cold rain on top of near freezing temperature.
But I still managed to get some interesting finds my favorite being the largest silver coin I have ever found.

Seated Half dollar 1870

Got really surprised finding it as I wasn't expecting to pull a large silver at a spot that didn't really look that promising. It's not in the top shape and looks like it was ''kissed'' by the plow at some point but it sure made my day. It's funny how after finding over a dozen Spanish Reales and a few early French silvers I have never found a half dollar of any kind, until this one showed up.

An other interesting find was British Navy lieutenants coat sized button, War of 1812

A musket butt stock. Unfortunately smashed by the machinery.

A cool saw nut Beardshaw and son, Sheffield (thanks to I.P. for the id )

20181010_213129.jpg 20181010_213143.jpg

An early vine bottle glass seal and a buckle

20181013_202514.jpg

A piece of horse harness?

Gold guild civilian button.

Also found a few 1812-1815 halfpenny tokens that I have left to the farmer.

Thanks for the comments.

They aren't easy to find in Canada. Didn't think I would get one.

My buddy found a great seated quarter made into a love token on one side. I forget the year. I was invited to go that day and couldn’t make it. It could’ve been mine! [emoji27][emoji16]

Well I guess it wasn't your coin to find. I'm sure you got something better.

Great finds! Looks like a promising site

Thanks. Looks like a confusing site. I'm not a big fan of post 1830's spots as they are usually full of industrial era junk. I'll need to check this spot again though

I wouldn't mind finding a dollar.

Well- you have got a LOT more responses than I did for my 1870 FULL dollar.

In fact- some bozo responded to my post telling me it was fake- even though I was in a town that has numerous existing buildings built well before that.

I don't come here often- but I still have not seen another full seated in the years I have been here- no respect. :tongue3:

Well you never know how the finds will be received by the members. The most important part is that you have a shiny Seated dollar seating in your collection.

Well, finding a foreign coin is another thing to puzzle over - what's the story on the loser of the coin...?? :dontknow:

These coins circulated in US and Canada (although not nearly as commonly) so not really a mystery.
