Have you ever had that site where you have popped some great relics and coins, but it has gone 100% dry with your detector? I have over 30 of these sites. You feel like there has to be more and you are just not going deep enough. Well, I tried just the opposite and focused on shallow targets, but in the most difficult setting, rims of cellar holes where all of the square nails came to rest.

I’ve been trying some new settings and techniques (spelled out on the Nox forum) at some nearby sites I’ve pounded dry. These results are from three 1 hr hunts at (3) 1800’s cellar sites with the Nox this week.

First target at a cellar hole I had swept over 4 times, probably my best IHP ever. (18 FTY)

Normally crotal bells give nice strong silver quarter signals, but not in the nails.

This ornate pin must have had colorful enameled paint back in the day.

Nothing amazing, but amazing that different settings and techniques have breathed some new life into pounded sites.

Good luck out there!

Nice pdnc. That's inspiring. I might have to try some new settings in a couple weeks at my favorite old ball field. My brother and I have probably pulled close to 200 old coins out of it but it's hard to even find a signal there. It's sand so every couple years when it gets shifted around a couple more pop up. I know there's some more deep stuff there, I just need the settings to get it.

Love the patina on the one cent and I wonder if your hinge is a book clasp.
