Went out with the fellas to a site that I had mapped out in the middle of nowhere. Was a really good day for me.
Recovered a 1785 Nova Constellatio Crosby 3-B variety Copper Pointed Rays Large US
Also got a 1788 Vermont copper Ryder-29 variety out of the same hole.
My first colonial copper coin spill!

You’ll be hard pressed to find more desirable colonial coppers than those beauties! The scarcity coupled with that condition is like hitting the detecting jackpot. I’ve only had a couple of sites with ground conditions that spit out coppers in that condition. The trick is finding the site, good ground conditions and of course it has to actually have coins in the ground. Hope you have continued good luck

It's very hard to get a good copper - some degree of scarcity or rarity, especially good condition for a ground dug coin which can only come from seldom encountered soil conditions, eye appeal, and lots of detail from minimal circulation. Good soil is the hardest to find. Too often, I've dug a coin with minimal corrosion but very little detail or lots of detail but heavy corrosion.

This coin beats the heavy odds. For this reason, I'm voting banner. Congrats to the finder.

Your absolutely correct. I havnt found any colonial copper coin ever in this condition. The soil was absolutely perfect! Funny though the condition of the nova as compared to the vermont. Vermont was in the Same hole but a lot deeper. Thanks you!
