Made it out for a couple lunch hunt hikes this week to old pounded farmsteads cellars in the park.

This was my only clear signal. Sounded like a no doubt wheat. Always fun to have an 1800’s date on a medallion, not sure about the YPCU?

The rest of the finds are with my low to the ground, low power, very slow swing strategy.

This IHP sounded like a scratchy silver quarter, 31-21, but when out of the ground solid 18.

Great Seal domed button a scratchy silver dollar tone 3’ from my Seated Dime hole from the weekend. Dig hole, extracted 4” rusty iron thing, sweep dirt and tiny 9 signal.

Can anyone ID this button?

Here is the handful.

The floral button another tiny 9 signal.

Good luck out there!

Nice handful Thad. The military button is not a "Great Seal". They came out in 1902. Yours is earlier and it is a staff officers button, probably CW era, but possibly post war as well. If you can make out the back mark that would help, but looks like that may be tough.

Haha I just noticed they spelled Pittsburgh with the H on your medallion, even though by the date on it they should have dropped the H.

Thx Steve! It is always cool to unveil another clue at an old site, potential CW button in Pittsburgh or Pittsburg is rare for me, only my 3rd.

Thx Truth! I get out about 6 hours a week when I’m not traveling. I try to do a series of very short highly researched/focused hunts.

Well then let me clarify that you don’t hunt as long as me a week you’re just smarter and better. Lol

It's OK, It's OK, I've gotten used to being humbled! Congrats and great hunt Pa-dirt!

What's your take on the button/disc with the morning glories on it? Nothing like a little Belladonna!

Enjoy and best wishes!

I think it is the front of a 2 piece button, backside rusted/fell off. Some ornate relics have come out from this cellar hole. Personal elements such as this button or the gilded hat pin Steve found on Sunday are a nice change of pace from the typical horse tack. But as far as any specific meaning to the floral pattern, IDK?

That is a cool medallion. I must have missed finding that back in the 70s living in WPA.... grin. That 913 might have been a coal mine board check. Shows on the board if your in the mine.

Looking again your patina up there is gorgeous and I really really love that
medallion. I’m a sucker for something like that. Christian, patina, dated and 1800’s. Hell I’m done..... again congratulations.

Cool medallion! It was given out by the Universalist Church who later merged with the American Unitarian Association in 1961.

Great info Cudamark!

The member's of our Unitarian/Universalist congregation are some interesting individualist people. When they have a church yard sale----get there early!
