Iโ€™ve actually found a number of buttons swinging over groundhog dirt piles. Maybe they are relic hunters, but I found a War Nickel in one pile so maybe they prefer coin hunting... nice buttons, congrats!

Thank you everyone!

I realize these buttons are fairly uncommon throughout the US, so here's a brief description. The buttons are a two piece variety that's about as big around as a quarter with a loop shaped shank. It's possible they date back to as early as 1890, but I suspect they're from around the 1940's based on what I've found in the immediate vicinity so far. I'll be going back to dig more low tones to see if I can find any further evidence. ATB&HH!
