Not sure why it's New York though... I played with the pic a bit and thought I saw an S instead of a C...?

Thanks. Apparently they were in NY before moving to the midwest. It is a little larger than a Civil War belt plate, and as we were looking for a CW site, you know what we first thought. The scratch can be retouched with no issues, if I ever get around to it, that is.

That's cool. This probably came off a piece of farm machinery. (Think I'll pass on the catalog.) The patent office would have the original prints, but again, too much bother. Thank you for your help.

That was a beautiful target. Had me going for a second, the shape and green patina.

Darryl found it walking over 3 and a half miles looking for a Confederate camp...we had already found a mile away! But history said they were on the other hill. History was wrong.

It doesn't make sense, should have been there. Time for the next wild goose chase, opposite direction. Haha

No, it makes sense. No water for the troops they could get to, and no house nearby to hide at.

These are the backs of the two 19th century buttons found on the same property. Nothing much, but better than nothing. Someone had hammered the house in the past. IMG_0153.JPG
