Found this amazing buckle. Any info on the age or anything is appreciated. And is this a colonial toy cannon?

Researched the lion head buckle and appears to be 18th century british sword sling buckle or similar

Beings cannon are an area of interest for me since age 5 I have learned a few things along the years... so I will go out on a limb and post MY OPINION.

Normally I will "sit out" on most "what is its" for several reasons... even if I know what it is. (never explain... real friends don't need it and enemies wont believe it anyway)

Anyway,,,

I do not believe this is a "toy cannon" upon initial looksee... NOW...I DID NOT research this... but heck here it is anyway...

I appreciate your opinion, i just hope your wrong... Haha. There are cast lines on both sides and a little place on the back where you would think a fuse would go. Maybe someone who knows for sure will chime in

Tough one, there is not a lot of source references that I know of for these types of buckles. Your's could be 18th C, but the academics broadly date them to 1750-1850. They are most like Military related but once again I've only read a connection to the Royal Navy. So I can't help more than that, as they are not in any books I own.

The Canon I can't really help with much as its not a typical 18th-19th C type with the fuse hole on top. Because of this, which is a big deal to these working models, I think it's later.

In my opinion, there is no doubt that this is a cannon and likely an early one that was a kids toy. Just how early I can't say. I'm sure there are some experts that could confirm its age and purpose. Great find regardless.

the disc with the perforated pattern is from an oil lamp. I have several but they are all English Military1880 -1900 will look later to see if its the same pattern.
