Well, part of it anyway!
Pulled this old soldier out of the cold ground about 6in down. Didn't know what I had, as it was getting dark and was encrusted in dirt. I originally thought it was a piece of old fencing. Anybody have an idea on its age?
My home was built in the 1920s and sits near or on lands that were part of an old Jersey Shore resort. Lots of signals, but very trashy. I've dug a lot of holes since finding this cavalry officer, but his horse eludes me!
You would think it would be nearby... hopefully not in the neighbor's yard!

Very neat and very old.Are you not sure it was cast?

You can see the line running down the middle of the soldier, so it was definitely in a mold. Anybody have an idea of the age of this little guy? I know everything looks old when it comes out of the ground, but it seems a lot older than the WWII era toys. Possibly even late 19th century-1920s.

Pretty sure you have an example of one of the many variants of a Mounted British Life Guard soldier, made by Britains or another British maker. A little research might narrow it down for you. Cheers, Sub 8-)
