I've never seen a cannonball come out of the ground looking that clean and rust free.

Thats because i chiseled the rust off, then put it in the tumbler for an hour then waxed it

Do you have any pics before you cleaned it and can you elaborate a little more on your cleaning method? What was the media you used in the tumbler and what wax did you use to finish it up? Sorry for so many questions, but if I can get shell/cannonball frags to look like that after only a 1 hour tumble, I'm all ears! Thanks in advance.

Interesting... I have never even considered removing the rust from mine, I just washed the dirt off and stuck them in my curio.
To me the rust is just another part of their story and so long as they stay dry they won't rust any further.

Keep pounding it. There has to be a buckle in there somewhere.

6th picture. On the far right. That kinda pull tab looking thing is a piece of a corset busk. The hooks and eyes that close it up in the front.

And I think the one with the three oblong holes was from a garter strap

I took a small hammer and carefully beat the large rust chunks off, then i put it in tumbler for 1-2 hours, i use bb's for bb gun for tumbler media, about 100 of them. Then i dry it real good with a rag. Then i use carnuba wax for cars to seal and polish it, i also use this wax on my indians and other copper coins
