Found this at house pre 1900. I have no idea what this may be but I think it has a mechanism on it so it could be opened. This may have been attached to something else being that there is a loop connector attached. Anyone??

When posting please take a photo of your item with a coin or other easily recognized standard so we know it size?
To me this could be a pendant or a link from a bracelet that used to be gold plated but has lost its plate down to the copper layer

Looks like the piece is missing a second (left side) connection loop. Could be a link of a chain or part of a charm? :dontknow:

I agree, part of a plated bracelet. If you squeeze the two "dog ears" together toward the loop, and pull them straight out of the body, you will see that it is part of a locking clasp. Cheers, Sub 8-)

I think Safety Clasp for jewelry. In the third pic, in the middle rectangle, right hand side, you can see what appears to be an "X" (Asian influence?) possibly part of the makers mark.
