Hey everyone,

Got out two or three times over the past week. Just getting a chance to post. Our power has been out the past three days with the strong winds that ripped through here.

Hit a park sunday pulled two rosies and a nice old sterling charm bracelet that i put back together. Little book was bent up pretty good. Didnt get a chance to clean up everything but wanted to share anyways.

Hit an old foundation that we deemed hunted out. But the deus brought it back to life sifting through the iron. Pulled a sterling pocket watch back. One of a few to come from this site over the years.

Also got a neat old luggage take from the nor pacific r.r
Found a bull durham tobacco advertising charm there also.

Picked up about 20 wheats inbetween the sites as well as a few old aluminum tokens. Been a little slow for silver but still finding a few here and there.

Got 13 ytd. So im on pace for a 100. I set that goal witch is tough but usually achieve it. Had some seasons over the years where i got close to 200.

But getting really hard anymore to locate untouched sites.

Thanks for looking

Jer

A lot of cool finds!

Do you know what the start thing is in the center of your second photo? I dug one last year and never figured it out, but this is the first time I've seen another posted.

Thanks guys

No i am clueless to what it went to. Appears to be brass and its the second one to come from this site. Screwed into something.

Pretty dangerous object. Maybe to a top of a gate. I have no idea. Surprised no one here knows.

Its old though late 1800's if i had to guess. Hopefully someone will i.d it.

Wow, that’s a lot of non ferrous. The charm bracelet and silver pocket watch back are sweet. 100 silvers seems like a lot, but you’re on your way. Congrats

Thanks for the replies.

I look at it like this i only need to find less than two silvers a week for a year and thats how i get a 100 consistently. I put myself on sites each week that give me a good chance of finding it.

Only seasons i dont get to 100 is if my boys ball keeps me from hunting or im fishing or doing something else. Gotta pretty much get out every week.

Thank you for the i.d. my next guess was something along the lines of the top of a chimney to keep birds away. Just couldnt come up with the exact idea of what it went on.

Thanks again for the link and info.

You have definitely been busy and those pictures don't even begin to show how many targets you've dug since your last post. I have never dug 100 silvers in a year. I'd probably have to find a cache lol.

Lol

Yeah it takes alot of digging. Ive been really fortunate over the years.

I really enjoy this hobby been a really good outlet for me. Ive put together alot of my collection this year and its an astounding ammout of artifacts.

I had guest over for the super bowl and holiday and took them into my garage where i have over 20 large display cases with thousands of choice artifacts and they couldnt beleive it.

Sometimes i cant even beleive how many items ive recovered over the years.

In 25 years and thousands of hours in the field i have not seen a gold coin yet in a plug.

So hoping one day to cap a career with one before i have no knees left lol.

Hope to see more finds steve

I agree, it is hard to find new good producing spots but you've been killing it for a long time and I'm just 3 years in. I browsed quite a bit of your older posts, you beat me to a lot of great finds in Western PA.

Thanks guys,

Yeah Metal it was good hunting about 15 years ago. The parks weren't hammered to bad.

A lot of guys got to sites before me as well. Wish I would have picked up a mine lab a little sooner to.

Should have jumped on board when the explorer came out about 20 years ago.

I was a whites guy for a long time. They are great machines don't get me wrong. But I left a lot of deeper silver in the ground for others.

Only about 5 years ago I jumped on the mine lab banned wagon. I was however able to go back to old sites not hunted by others and recovered a good bit of silver.

Yes, I have a lot of post on here. I haven't been very active posting over the past 3 to 5 years. I've came across some great sites to in that time span. Hit a swimming hole last summer that gave up a few hundred old coins.

I'll try and stay more active on here moving forward.

Good luck to you guys. I bet we will cross paths at some point out there.

Amazingly I've been able to still pull the occasional silver from a city park using the ATP. I thought about upgrading but there's not enough silvers left in the parks locally to justify spending the money imo. I prefer the woods like you and most targets arent that deep.

Yes,

There still in there. It's impossible to get them all. The parks are hunted hard but you can never get them all. There will always be silver deeper than our machines can locate.

Every time they scrape up an area in a park I find old coins.

Yeah I'm done on buying machines myself for a bit. Yeah I enjoy the woods too. Nothing really gets deeper than 4 to 6 inches. Plus less people to bug you about what you are doing.

It's not so much the depth of the minelab's that makes them as good as they are. What they do best is they see through the trash better than any machine out there.

And they operate in the nastiest of soil conditions better than any machine out there. That's my opinion on them. Although the dues crushes them in relic hunting and iron infested sites.

They all have there advantages. But the best silver machines are the minelabs. Probably the best coin shooting machines in the turf.

Just my two cents. But I have 10,000 hrs in the field hunting in the past 25 years. I used to work night shifts for a long time and hunted almost every day for years.
