One year away from the Holy Grail of coins

This beat my oldest large cent found at 1798. Now Its going to be really tough to find an earlier large cent than the beauty I plucked out of the soil today.

It's not in the best of shape but at least it still has some details left on it. A nice find for sure.

Great save of a rarely seen date. I think there is enough detail that a copper specialist may be able to identify the specific variety of that date.

Always do right; this will gratify some and astonish the rest.

This is Awesome! I was just looking at this coin last night - I'm going to check the variety on this one. Yep, don't think you will find an earlier copper than this one. I really envy you guys that live on the east coast.

I can't tell if it is a Normal or High Relief variety - Red book shows mintage at 81,600 so pretty sweet find!
